• Function of the drive roller: The drive roller transmits the torque provided by the drive unit to the conveyor belt. Drive rollers are classified into three types—light, medium, and heavy—based on their load-carrying capacity. For each type of roller, multiple shaft diameters and center spans are available for selection. The roller surfaces can be equipped with smooth steel surfaces, diamond-patterned textures, or rubber coverings with herringbone patterns.
• The return roller (tail roller), also known as the return idler, is used to guide the conveyor belt back to the drive roller. These tail rollers may be equipped with built-in bearings or mounted in external bearing housings, and they are typically located at the end of the conveyor frame.
